“It is necessary to develop a strategy that utilizes all the physical conditions and elements that are directly at hand. The best strategy relies upon an unlimited set of responses.”

There are widely recognized benefits to be derived from practicing Aikido.

The focus is on basic techniques, movements, philosophy and etiquette.  Beginners must attend 12 introductory classes to be awarded a Level 1 Certificate and another 12 introductory classes to be awarded a Level 2 Certificate respectively.  Upon receiving their Level 2 Certificate, beginners are offered full (regular) membership at Victoria Aikido Centre and may attend any classes appropriate for their level of proficiency.  Regular adult classes are offered 6 days a week.

“I first came to Aikido on the recommendation of a mental health professional. During the course of counseling for PTSD, she saw that there was a dire need for learning some form of self-defense, and a deep-seated desire to do no harm. Aikido presented a solution to this seemingly impossible paradox.”
